How to read these figures

These figures are grant awards, funding decisions, or commitments as published by the organisation — not verified cash paid out, and not a complete picture of all funding activity.

An award or offer does not guarantee the full amount was drawn down or paid. Payments may be lower than the award, staged over several years, conditional on milestones, reduced after the decision, or not taken up at all. Some boards publish decision amounts that later change.

Coverage and quality vary by scheme and year. Recipient names are free text, descriptions are inconsistent, and source files (HTML listings, PDFs, open-data dumps) are of uneven quality. Automated extraction can introduce gaps or misreads. Treat the data as a starting point for investigation, not a definitive payments ledger.
