Screen Ireland

Screen Ireland, previously the Irish Film Board, is the State development agency for film, television and animation in Ireland. It puts money into the making and circulation of features, feature documentaries, shorts, and television drama and animation.

The Irish Film Board Act 1980 provides for the establishment of the Irish Film Board to assist and encourage a film industry in the State and to invest in, and give grants, loans and loan guarantees for, films made in the State. S.I. No. 282/1981 is the establishment-day order under that Act; the day it appointed was not confirmed in the text fetched. Section 39 of the National Cultural Institutions (National Concert Hall) Act 2015 provides that, from a day appointed by the Minister, the Board shall be known as Fís Éireann, or in English Screen Ireland. The appointed day for that change of name was not confirmed in the pages fetched.
